Call to schedule a lactation visit today!
Prenatal visits are prior to the arrival of your baby. Preparation can make the transition after birth less stressful and can answer any questions you may have prior to delivery. Services during your initial visit can include identification of any health risks for you or baby, what to expect in the first few days, and education about breastfeeding.
It is recommended that you schedule a lactation visit in the first few days following discharge from your Birth Center or Hospital. Avoidance of pain, cracked nipples, and education is the key to success. An infant weight and assessment will be provided and a customized feeding plan will be developed.
Sometimes you may have specific lactation questions that your provider was unable to answer. A phone or zoom consult can be scheduled if you need a little extra help but uncertain if a visit is warranted. This is for the client that does not feel she needs help with positioning or latch difficulties but would like to discuss problems or concerns.
I am first and foremost a wife and mother of three children. I began my journey in helping other moms after I quickly discovered that breastfeeding can be isolating and emotionally difficult. My entire purpose and philosophy is to help you meet YOUR individual breastfeeding goals. I will never judge, or push you into anything uncomfortable for you. No two couplets are the same and I will help you and your baby succeed. All families are different and that is what makes us beautiful.
I have over 20 years of direct hospital based medical experience. I am a Registered Nurse that graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I am also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with over 10 years of daily experience. I used my expertise to lead the Lactation Department and provide staff education at a local south metro hospital. During that time I saw inpatients, outpatients, Pediatric patients, Neonatal Intensive Care patients, Labor and Delivery, Emergency Department, and patients following medical procedures that happened to be breastfeeding. I have knowledge in all areas of breastfeeding and newborn cares,. Being a nurse and lactation consultant means a lifetime of learning. Education is never complete. I am NRP, CPR, AED, RN, and IBCLC certified in the state of MN. I hold current licensure in all areas of expertise.
My passion is working with newborns and educating breastfeeding mothers. It is an honor to be part of your journey. I have specific training with late preterm infants, nursing multiples, infants requiring phototherapy due to jaundice, low milk supply, over-reactive milk letdown, exclusively pumping, tongue and lip ties, torticollis, nipple shields, breast anomalies, reductions, augmentations, cleft lips, and infants requiring supplementation. This list is not all inclusive list and we will always tailor the visit directly to your goals and individual desires.
It would be my pleasure to assist you in your breastfeeding journey!
